Guerlain L’Essentiel Natural Glow Foundation

You know how you always have that one foundation in your makeup stash, that always makes your skin look flawless, and you only save it for special occasions? This is what I have with the Guerlain Lingerie de Peau foundation. I have tried several different Guerlain foundations over the past 5/6 years and every single one of them, is in my all time favorites list. This spring Guerlain launched a brand new foundation called: L’Essentiel Natural Glow, and I was very looking forward to try it out as well.

With L’Essentiel, bare skin is more beautiful, day after day. The formula lets the skin breathe; hydrates, balances and protects the skin from pollution. The complexion is more even; the appearance of imperfections is reduced.

The Guerlain L’Essentiel foundation comes in 30 different shades, and 3 different undertones: neutral, warm and cool. I’m currently using the shade 02N Clair. The foundation is also made with 97 naturally-derived ingredients. The remaining 3% have been chosen in good conscience.

Besides the foundation, Guerlain also launched a new brush in this range. At first I was a bit skeptical, because of the size of the brush. But after using it for the first time, I was completly convinced about it. I apply the L’Essentiel Foundation directly on the brush, then I dab the product on 5 different places on my face: forehead, chin, nose and cheeks. After this I blend it out with the brush, from the centre of the face, going outwards. It doesn’t leave any brush streaks, it blends amazing and the result is very natural.

Not only is it a perfect size, it has a retractable sleeve and it comes with a cap too. In this way you can easily throw it in your purse, makeup bag, without worrying that it’s going to smudge.

Left: no makeup | Right: wearing the L’Essentiel Foundation

The first thing that I noticed about this new product, is the gorgeous packaging. I have never seen such an unique design. What I love about this foundation that it can cover up blemishes, redness and dark spots, but still look extremly natural. Just as you can see on the before and after pictures I took. I was a bit worried, that it could look too glowy, but I was pleasantly surprised with the result and the application of the brush. It doesn’t enhance your pores, clog up your skin or make it look cakey. It lets your skin breathe and it feels very comfortable, almost like you are not wearing foundation at all.

Overall I’m very very happy with this new foundation! The luxury packaging, the natural formula, the medium coverage and bare skin effect make me definitely recommend this product to anyone! I like to powder it off with the Guerlain Météorites Compact Powder and also apply a bit of the Terracotta Bronzing Powder for a sunkissed result.
